Queenscliff, a seaside town on the Bellarine Peninsula, can be found in the southern part of the state of Victoria, Australia. It is bordered by Swan Bay, and the entrance to Port Phillip Bay. This fascinating town is located 104 kilometers south of Melbourne and can easily be accessed via the Geelong and Bellarine Highways.

 

Queenscliff accommodation is abundant and is home to some famous hotels. In addition there are a multitude of holiday houses as well guest houses and bed and breakfasts. Queenscliff accommodation is highly regarded for its luxury and also its period featured rooms which you will find in all of the Queenscliff accommodation types.

 

Quuenscliff is renowned for its historic beauty which is not only preserved in its existing magnificent ornate buildings from the 1800's such as the Vue Grand Hotel but also in the Queenscliffe Historical Museum, Queenscliffe Maritime Museum, and the Fort Queenscliff Museum. The Borough of Queenscliffe with an 'e' is home to the towns of Queenscliff (no 'e') and Point Lonsdale.

 

The town is also regarded as a food mecca with some of the best food in the country. Seafood is abundant and is celebrated each year with the Queenscliff Seafood Festival held on Good Friday as well as the Queenscliff Music Festival during the last weekend of November. The local talented fishermen get to show off their creations.

 

Visit the town's commercial centre in Hesse Street to taste the enticing local cuisine from one of the famous restaurants.

 

In the grounds of Fort Queenscliff stands the “Queenscliff High Light” or previously known as the “Black Light House”. It is the only black lighthouse in the south, and is one of the three black lighthouses around the globe.

 

 

It is accompanied by the White Lighthouse in guiding the ships passing through the risky route of The Rip which separates the Bellarine Peninsula and the Mornington Peninsula.

 

The Queenscliff Harbour has also raised the attractiveness of the town where you can come and buy fresh seafood directly from the boats.

 

At the other end of the harbour is the wharf where you can make your way to Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula vis the Queenscliff - Sorrento Car and Passenger Ferry.

 

If you are looking for a bit of adventure then there are a few organisations that will take you sightseeing above and below the water. Take a flight along this magnificent coastline or dive the depths of the sea and learn to scuba dive. A recent nay ship was recently purposefully sunk to create an underwater metropolis of sea life.

 

Not your style? Then take a luxury yachting cruise and sail across to Sorrento and back for lunch.
